SPRINGBOARD OUT AND ABOUT
The Access to Work class has had a busy year exploring possible employment, training and volunteering opportunities in the community. The students are starting to think about their options after completing Grade 12.
Some of the places they’ve visited regarding employment and training have been Oakdale Enterprises in Moonah, Tadpac Print in Glenorchy, the Bridgewater Bridge Project, Hamlet Café in Hobart and the Campbell Street TasTAFE campus.
The value of volunteering has been reinforced with our visits to TenLives Cat Centre, the Dog’s Home of Tasmania at Risdon Vale and the Warrane Mornington Neighbourhood Centre. We have also caught a Metro bus to the Hobart CBD on two occasions, getting off the bus near TasTAFE and then visiting the Metro Shop in the Hobart CBD.
These experiences have given the class opportunities to build confidence and skills to aid the transition to employment, volunteering and training in 2026.
